Lucy 18 in December, moved to Future Horizon’s supported housing scheme aged 16 years after several difficult placements in foster homes and residential children’s homes where her behaviour was often challenging. With the help of dedicated support workers Lucy has learned new skills, gained knowledge, developed a better understanding of relationships and practiced the responsibilities of citizenship. Lucy continues to display challenging behaviour at times and requires a high level of support to sustain her independence and cope with her realities. She is currently considering work experience opportunities and   has made plans to enrol on a CLAIT computer course with support from her support worker.

Nadine moved to Future Horizons from Brighter Future’s Sheltered Accommodation where she had been placed following an unsuccessful move from local authority care to supported lodgings. After a period of emotional recovery and personal development and with transitional support from her dedicated support worker her move to independent living has been successful. Nadine has grown in confidence and self esteem. She has made new friends, re-established family contact, met a regular boyfriend and has secured a place at college in September.
